Mocha Frappuccino® Blended Beverage

Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino® Blended Beverage
The Mocha Frappuccino is a blended iced coffee drink made with mocha sauce, coffee, milk and ice, and it sits in the Coffee Frappuccino lineup. It is the chocolate-and-coffee starting point for the whole all Frappuccino flavors family.
Think of it as a milkshake-style mocha. Cold, thick, sweet and topped with cream.
A Mocha Frappuccino is built from four things: mocha sauce, Frappuccino Roast coffee, milk and ice. That is the full list in the menu description, and whipped cream goes on top in the standard build.
Frappuccino Roast is the coffee part. It is a coffee made to blend cold, so it mixes smoothly with ice instead of turning watery. A starbucks coffee mocha frappuccino therefore tastes like a cold, creamy mocha, with the coffee sitting behind the chocolate rather than in front of it.
Mocha sauce brings the chocolate. It is the same mocha sauce named in the hot mocha, which is why the flavor feels familiar.
Published ingredient lists for the blended base also mention a thickener, xanthan gum, which keeps the drink smooth instead of separating into ice and liquid. That is why a Frappuccino stays thick for so long.
The menu also suggests a twist: ask for it affogato style, with a hot espresso shot poured over the top. The shot melts into the whipped cream and adds a bitter edge to the sweetness.
People use many names for the same drink. A cafe mocha frappuccino is simply the Mocha Frappuccino, named after the cafe mocha it is based on. Baristas understand all of them. The official name on the menu is the one with Blended Beverage after it.
Calorie listings for this drink depend on the size, the milk and whether you keep the whipped cream. Starbucks does not publish a single number that stays the same forever, and recipes change. Treat any figure as a guide and check the app before you order.
Older published nutrition listings, which are marked as archived, give these figures for the standard build:
| Size | Volume | Calories (older listing) | Fat | Carbs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tall | 12 oz | 270 | 11g | 42g |
| Grande | 16 oz | 420 | 16g | 61g |
| Venti | 24 oz | Higher than grande | Check app | Check app |
For the cookie crumble, an older grande listing shows 480 calories, 24g of fat and 62g of carbs. That is about 60 calories more than the plain grande.
Milk choice moves the number. Nonfat milk lowers it a little. Plant milks differ by brand, so ask what your store uses. Leaving off the whipped cream cuts calories and fat as well.
The nutrition picture is simple: most of the calories come from carbohydrates, and fat comes second. In the older grande listing, carbs make up about 59 percent of calories and fat about 35 percent. Protein is small, at about 6g.
I could not verify a current sugar figure, so check the app for the grande number before you rely on one.
Swaps that cut the most:
The drink is made with milk, so it is not dairy free unless you switch to a plant milk, and even then the sauce and whipped cream need checking with your store.
The caffeine in a Mocha Frappuccino comes from Frappuccino Roast, and it is lower than in an iced latte of the same size. Published caffeine guides list 75 mg for a tall, 110 mg for a grande and 140 mg for a venti.
An iced latte is the better comparison. Those same guides give 75 mg for a tall iced latte, 150 mg for a grande and 225 mg for a venti. So a grande Mocha Frappuccino has roughly three quarters of the caffeine of a grande iced latte, plus a lot more sugar.
If you want chocolate with no caffeine, the Frappuccino lineup has crème-based drinks. The Vanilla Bean Creme Frappuccino has no coffee and lists 0 mg in the same guides. Ask your barista whether a mocha crème version is possible at your store.
Caffeine in the classic mocha is close to the Java Chip (removed from the US menu in March 2025) and a little above the Caramel. Figures below come from published caffeine guides and can differ from the app.
You can change nearly every part of a Mocha Frappuccino. Here is what to adjust, and how to say it.
In the app, these options sit on the customize screen after you pick a size. At the counter, a clear script works best: "A grande mocha frap with nonfat milk, no whip and one fewer pump of mocha."
The classic mocha is the order most people mean when they ask for a chocolate Frappuccino. Delivery-app prices start at $6.75, but the price rises with size and with add-ons such as an extra shot, and it changes by store.
It contains mocha sauce, Frappuccino Roast coffee, milk and ice, topped with whipped cream in the standard build. The result is a cold, thick, chocolate-forward coffee drink. You can add an espresso shot, change the milk or skip the whip to match your taste.
Published caffeine guides list about 75 mg in a tall, 110 mg in a grande and 140 mg in a venti. That is less than an iced latte of the same size. The numbers can vary slightly, so check the app if you are watching your intake closely.
An older published listing shows about 420 calories for a grande, with 16g of fat and 61g of carbs. Recipes change, and nonfat milk or no whipped cream lowers the total, so confirm the current figure in the app before you order.
The cookie crumble version adds Frappuccino chips to the blend and is layered over whipped cream and chocolate cookie crumble. It is finished with vanilla whipped cream, mocha drizzle and extra crumble. The classic is smoother and less sweet.
Yes. The mocha frappe Starbucks baristas make is the Mocha Frappuccino Blended Beverage under a casual name. Baristas will make the same drink whether you say frappe, frap or Frappuccino, though the menu name is the clearest way to order.
A no-coffee version is possible through the crème Frappuccino lineup, but a chocolate crème may depend on your store. Decaf is less certain because the coffee base is built to blend cold. Ask your barista what they can do rather than assuming.
Ask for fewer pumps of mocha sauce, nonfat milk and no whipped cream. Choose a tall instead of a grande to cut the total further. The drink will still be sweet, because the blended base carries sugar too, but it will be noticeably lighter.
Yes, the standard build is topped with whipped cream, and published nutrition listings assume it. If you prefer less fat and fewer calories, say "no whip" when you order, and the barista will leave it off.
On the delivery app, the Mocha Frappuccino Blended Beverage starts from $6.75. In-store prices can differ, and the final price rises with size and add-ons such as an extra shot or a different milk.
Yes. You can blend the shot in or ask for it affogato style, poured hot over the top. The menu description suggests the affogato version as a way to change things up. An extra shot adds caffeine and usually a small charge.
