The fall menu at Starbucks brings back the Pumpkin Spice Latte and surrounds it with pumpkin cold drinks, pecan lattes, banana bread chai and a cider-inspired Chaider. Most of it arrives in late summer and stays until the holiday menu takes over. This guide sorts the lineup by taste, format and sugar so you can pick fast.
Names below follow the most recent lineup, and some drinks rotate each year. For the rest of the board, see the entire Starbucks menu.
Fall drinks go well past pumpkin. In the most recent lineup, three flavor families were new alongside the classics: pecan, banana bread and the Chaider. Which ones return depends on the year, so treat this as a snapshot.
The pecan group uses Blonde Espresso. The Pecan Cortado starts with three ristretto shots, adds pecan flavor and steamed milk, and finishes with a pecan crunch topping, all in an 8-ounce cup. It is small but strong. The Pecan Crunch Latte is a larger milky drink with a crunchy pecan-flavored sugar on top, and the iced version adds vanilla sweet cream cold foam.
The banana bread drinks lean dessert. The Iced Banana Bread Chai adds banana syrup to spiced chai, with brown sugar cold foam and a cinnamon dolce topping. An Iced Banana Bread Latte and a matcha version follow the same idea. Starbucks has said the banana bread drinks can stay on the menu beyond fall.
The Chaider is the cider-inspired chai. Starbucks describes it as a cozy twist on chai with cinnamon and sweet spice. In our menu data, the Iced Chaider is a chai blend shaken with strawberry acai flavors, so it tastes crisp, spiced and fruity. Chai is made with black tea, so it carries some caffeine. Learn the base drink on the chai latte basics page.
Searches for an apple cider drink are common, but cider is not a regular item right now. The closest fall options are the cider-inspired Chaider and the apple-flavored items that return in some years. Check the app before you plan around one.
The apple drink most people mean is the Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato. It rotates in and out, and it has returned after the main fall launch in some years rather than with it. That means it can be missing in September and show up later.
The Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato combines espresso, oatmilk and apple crisp syrup, with a spiced finish. It can be made hot or iced. The syrup tastes like baked apple with brown sugar and cinnamon, so it reads as warm and sweet more than tart.
When it is missing, ask for an oatmilk latte with cinnamon dolce or brown sugar. It will not match, but it lands in the same spot. For something apple-themed to eat, try the Apple Crumble Mini Pie.
These drinks come in four formats, and the format affects both taste and caffeine. Here is how the board breaks down.
This table is a quick Starbucks fall drink menu by format:
| Format | Drinks | Caffeine tendency |
|---|---|---|
| Hot | Pumpkin Spice Latte, Pumpkin Spice Chai, Pecan Crunch Latte, Pecan Cortado | Latte about 150 mg in a Grande, chai about 95 mg |
| Iced | Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte, Iced Pecan Crunch Latte, Iced Banana Bread Latte, Iced Chaider | Espresso drinks follow shots, chai is lower |
| Iced with foam | Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, Iced Pumpkin Cream Shaken Espresso, Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai, Iced Pumpkin Cream Matcha | Cold brew about 205 mg, shaken espresso about 255 mg, matcha about 90 mg |
| Blended | Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino, Pumpkin Spice Crème Frappuccino | Coffee version about 95 mg, crème none from coffee |
Figures are approximate Grande values from published Starbucks data, and Starbucks says caffeine varies with beans and equipment. Pick hot for the classic, iced foam drinks for a creamy, slow sip and blended for dessert.

The fall menu has the Pumpkin Spice Latte and other pumpkin drinks, pecan lattes and a Pecan Cortado, banana bread drinks and the Chaider. Food includes the pumpkin cream cheese muffin and mini pies. The lineup rotates, so check the app.
It usually comes out in late August, often on a Tuesday. In recent years the launch date was announced a few weeks ahead. Some items arrive in a later wave, and stores may start on different days.
Not as ordered. The pumpkin sauce contains dairy, and the foam does too, so switching to a plant milk does not remove all milk. Ask the barista, and check the app for the exact ingredient and allergen details.
A Grande Pumpkin Spice Latte has about 150 mg. A Grande chai has about 95 mg, a matcha about 90 mg, a cold brew about 205 mg and a shaken espresso about 255 mg. A coffee Frappuccino has about 95 mg. Starbucks calls these approximate.
Pumpkin sauce is mixed into the drink and sweetens every sip. The foam sits on top of an iced drink and tastes creamy and lightly sweet. Sauce goes in hot and blended drinks, and the foam goes on cold ones.
The Chaider is Starbucks's cider-inspired chai. It has cinnamon and sweet spice flavors, and the iced version shakes a chai blend with strawberry acai flavors. Because chai uses black tea, it has some caffeine, though less than coffee.
It depends on the season. The drink has returned some years after the main fall launch rather than with it, and it was not part of the most recent August lineup. Check the app, because availability changes.
Among the drinks reported for the latest lineup, the Pecan Cortado and the Iced Chaider have the lowest sugar. You can also cut sugar in any drink by halving the pumps, picking a smaller size or skipping the topping.
Fall food includes the pumpkin cream cheese muffins, the Pumpkin Mini Pie, other mini pies such as apple crumble and pecan, and a Chicken Bacon Protein Pocket with 20 grams of protein. Availability varies by store.
Often, yes. Ask for the pumpkin foam on an iced coffee, cold brew or tea, and most stores will add it while they have it. It usually costs extra, and it only works on cold drinks.
