Wendys New Menu: Latest Burgers, Chicken, Frostys and Drinks

Three burgers define the latest burger releases, and each takes a different route. Two are limited-time. One is a fan favorite that returns in the fall.

The Jalapeno Ranch Cheeseburger uses fresh, never-frozen beef, creamy jalapeno ranch, jalapeno slices and melted American cheese. It is a limited-time item from the spring menu, so expect it to leave.

The Cheesy Bacon Cheeseburger tops the beef with cheddar cheese sauce and bacon. It arrived alongside the potato bun change and is easy to confuse with the Baconator, which has American cheese and six strips of bacon instead of cheese sauce.

The Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger comes on a pretzel bun with Muenster cheese, beer cheese sauce, bacon, crispy onions, pickles and honey mustard. A chicken version exists with the same toppings. Wendy's says the beer cheese sauce is non-alcoholic. Bacon Pub Fries carry the same sauce, with shredded cheddar and bacon on top.

The reworked spicy sandwich is the chicken story that matters most. It now has a new marinade, a panko-style breading and a nine-spice blend, and it is served with homestyle mayo and pickles on a potato bun. The goal was a crunchier, more peppery sandwich than the old one.

The potato bun is a soft, slightly sweet bun that Wendy's rolled out across its premium sandwiches, including burgers and the spicy chicken sandwich. It replaced inconsistent older buns.

The potatoes are the more unusual of the two. Wendy's regular seasoned potatoes are natural-cut, skin-on pieces with cracked black pepper, and the jalapeno version loads the same base with toppings, which turns a side into something close to a bowl.

Both are limited-time, so they act as seasonal twists on regular breakfast items you can order all year. The core lineup includes biscuits, croissants, French toast sticks and the Breakfast Baconator. Fresh-cracked egg is the standard on the egg sandwiches, which is a long-running selling point.
